Zoppo, Marco - 8 Zoppo, Marco
Marco Zoppo (1433 - 1498) was an Italian painter of the Renaissance period, active mainly in his native Bologna. He was a pupil of the painter Lippo Dalmasio then for a few years with Francesco Squarcione around 1455, and thus part of the Bolognese School of painting. He was a contemporary of Andrea Mantegna. He painted a number of ‘’Virgin enthroned with infant and saints’’ in Bologna. Francesco Francia was one of his pupils. He died in Venice to he had left after working for Squarcione.
Zaganelli, Bernardino - 1 Zaganelli, Bernardino
(active 1499; died 1509 or soon after) Bernardino and his brother Francesco were from Cotignola; they collaborated on works dated to 1499, 1504 and 1509. Because Francesco\'s name precedes that of Bernardino on inscriptions it is surmised that he was the elder. Their paintings were influenced by Palmezzano, Ercole de\' Roberti, Costa and Francia among others. Bernardino\'s independent work also reveals a close study of Giorgione and Perugino.
Zaganelli, Francesco - 5 Zaganelli, Francesco
Francesco da Cotignola (c. 1475-1532), also called Zaganelli, was an Italian painter of the Renaissance period, active mainly in Parma, where he was born. He was a pupil (eye) of the painter Niccolo Rondinelli. He painted for Classe near Ravenna, Faenza, and Parma. His brother, Bernardino, was also a painter, but nowhere as successful as what Francesco was able to do.
Zais, Giuseppe - 3 Zais, Giuseppe
(March 22, 1709 – October 29, 1784) was an Italian painter who painted mostly in Venice. Zais was born in Canale d\'Agordo, near Belluno. He was a landscape painter, whose work displays the influence of Marco Ricci and Zuccarelli. The artist was elected to the Venetian Academy in 1774, and died in Treviso.

Francisco de Zurbaran - 4 Francisco de Zurbaran
(November 7, 1598 – August 27, 1664) was a Spanish painter. He is known primarily for his religious paintings depicting monks, nuns, and martyrs, and for his still-lifes. Zurbarán gained the nickname Spanish Caravaggio, owing to the forceful, realistic use of chiaroscuro in which he excelled.
