Title: Young Woman
Description:
Raphael Sanzio (Italian: Raffaello) (1483 - 1520)
Young Woman with Unicorn
Oil on panel, 1506
65 cm × 61 cm (26 in × 24 in)
Galleria Borghese, Rome, Italy

Portrait of Young Woman with Unicorn, is an oil on panel by the Italian High Renaissance painter Raphael, finished around 1506. It is in the Galleria Borghese in Rome.

The picture was of uncertain attribution until recent times. In the 1760 inventory of the Gallery, it was referred to as St. Catherine and attributed to Perugino. After the 1935 restorations, the unicorn appeared and Raphael was considered the most likely author of the work. Although the exact meaning of the symoblism in the painting is uncertain, it has been suggested that the unicorn could represent Christ, as it does in medieval iconography, or even be a male erotic symbol
